1. Paul ROSARIO was born circa 1735 in Portugal. Another name for Paul is Paul DE ROSSA.

General Notes: Paulo de Rossa was a Jesuit Ecclesiastic student in the Jesuit Seminary of Portugal who was expelled from Portugal in June 1758 when the Jesuits were stripped of all Portuguese possessions and exiled (by Sebastião José de Carvalho e Melo, the Count of Oeiras who was later made the Maquis de Pombal in 1775). Along with four other Portuguese Jesuits and one Spanish Jesuit the group landed in India on May 10, 1760.

The original names were Paul de Rossa, Br. Moreira, Don Pachéco, Leon Texeira, Domingo Gonzales and the Spaniard was Francisco Fernandez. In India, they obtained jobs in the munition factories of Hyder Ali and married local Catholic women.

Paul Rossa changed his name to Paul Rosario.
