General Notes: Bartholomew D'Souza is the earliest known member of the D'Souza family from Mudarth. The origin of Mudarth is probably "Mon Duarte" meaning "My Lord". According to family legend, this family are converts from Smartha Brahmins that follow Sankracharya as distinct from the Gowd-Saraswats from which the majority of Mangalorean Catholic families descend.
Bartholomew married Barbara NORONHA, daughter of Manuel NORONHA and Juana SALDANHA. Barbara was born in 1795.
Children from this marriage were:

+ 3 ii. Monica D'SOUZA was born in 1826.
