14. Emmanuel D'SOUZA (Sebastian¹⁰, Francis⁵, Paul³, Manuel², Joseph¹) was born on Oct 16, 1903 and died on Aug 29, 2004 in Kattingeri, Moodubelle, Karnataka, India at age 100. Another name for Emmanuel is Monnu Master.

General Notes: Alphonsus was born on July 4, 1939 as the seventh child of (the late) Emmanuel (Monnu Master) and Magdalene D'Souza of Kattingeri, Moodubelle parish. After completing primary and higher primary education in the Church school, Moodubelle, Alphonsus proceeded to St Mary's High School, Shirva for further education where he completed SSLC in 1956. Alphonsus went to Mangaluru to continue PUC education at St Aloysius College.

After the completion of PUC in 1957, Alphonsus went for novitiate studies at St Stanislaus College, Sitagarha, Hazirbagh in 1957.

Br Alphonsus was ordained priest on July 13, 1971 in Augsburg, Germany. He was appointed bishop of Raignaj, West Bengal on February 4, 1987.

His religious life has been an example of spirituality, academic work, administrative responsibility, social service and Episcopal calling.
