6. Boniface Casimir FERNANDES (Peter2, Boniface1) was born circa 1875 in Kalmady Malpe and died on May 1, 1947 in Udipi, Karnataka, India about age 72.
General Notes: Boniface Casimir Fernandes was a farmer who owned and cultivated land on both sides of the Kalmaddy River. He was also the Village Sarpanch [A sarpanch is an elected head of a village-level statutory institution of local self-government called the panchayat (village government)] and a noted Toddy taster.
In the 1894 Kallianpur Parish census, Boniface Casmir is listed as being 18 years old. Hence he was born about 1875 or 1876.
The Fernandes cousins came from Muddubettu in Kalyanpur and settled around the Kalmady river. They named that place Fernandbettu which later became Pandbettu.
Boniface Casimir Fernandes, farmer, owned and cultivated land on both sides of the Kalmady river. He was the Village Sarpanch. He was also a toddy taster and rode a horse to work and was known to destroy the batch of toddy if it was not up to the mark. He tried exporting fish to Sri Lanka, but had to give up as the business suffered losses. He helped recruit young men from the village for the army. His eldest son Arthur and his nephew Louis Almeida were already serving in the British Indian Army. Casimir set a good example by enrolling his other two sons George & Denis in the army. George served in the Indian contingent and Denis being only 16 years old at the time was kept as a reserve trainee. Casimir's older brother Emmanuel lived a frugal life style & spent money very carefully. Casimir on the other hand spent money lavishly at festivals and family weddings. Besides, his 3rd wife Martha was paralyzed below the waist for 12 years. He employed a nurse to take care of her. Martha died about 1938. Due to additional expenses, Casimir had to sell off big chunks of land and moved into a mud house built for the tenants. (The present house was built by his son George). He died on 1st May 1947, about two weeks after his sons George & Denis were married to Marceline Dias & Elizabeth Fernandes respectively. (source: Denis Fernandes)
Boniface married Martha REGO. The cause of her death was Hydrophobia.
Boniface next married Joanna Gratia REBELLO, daughter of Casimir Antony REBELLO and Louisa FERNANDES. Joanna was born on Sep 7, 1889.

Boniface next married Martha Ignatia FERNANDES, daughter of Nicholas Manuel FERNANDES and Anna Joanna COELHO, on Dec 27, 1914 in Milagres Church, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India. Martha was born on Feb 7, 1888 in Kankanadi, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India and died on Dec 10, 1939 at age 51.

Boniface next married Regina REGO, daughter of Domingo John REGO and Quiteria Philomena D'LIMA. Regina was born in 1879.

Isabella married Jerome Augustine D'ALMEIDA, son of D'ALMEIDA. Jerome was born circa 1860.

+ 34 i. Francis D'ALMEIDA was born on Aug 2, 1888 and died on Nov 16, 1960 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India at age 72.
35 ii. Gregory D'ALMEIDA was born about 1890 and died about 1915 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India about age 25.
