1. Sebastian FERNANDES was born circa 1800 in Moodubelle, Karnataka, India.

General Notes: According to the book titled "The Roots of Konnkani Catholic of Coastal Karnataka and Fernandes of Moodubelle" published in 2005 by Paul Fernandes and Fr. Lawrence Fernandes the ancestors of Sebastian Fernandes were Goan Goud Saraswat Brahmins converted to Christianity by the Portuguese during the 16th and 17th century A.D. Due to and during the political and religious upheavals that engulfed Goa during the 17th century, the Christian forefathers of Sebastian Fernandes migrated to the coastal belt of Karnataka and settled down in different places. As per oral information the parents of Sebastian Fernandes had settled in Barkur. Thereafter during the first quarter of the 19th century Sebastian Fernandes and his family branched off from Barkur and came to Moodubelle where they settled down taking agriculture as their main occupation.

Sebastian Fernandes had four sons. The first son, Simon Fernandes continued to stay in Moodubelle. Michael Fernandes the second son went to Kalyanpur. Dominic Fernandes the third son moved to Shirva and the fourth son Francis Fernandes settled down in Kalathur. The descendants of all four sons of Sebastian Fernandes though they had settled down in different places their names have been amalgamated and brought them under this One single Genealogical Tree and under one single Website: " Fernandes Prabhu Family from Moodubelle". In this genealogical ladder Sebastian Fernandes is the earliest person known by name, therefore he has been identified as the First Generation Fernandes.
