General Notes: Edgard joined the French army of Charles de Gaulle in Pondicherry in 1941 at the start of WWII. In 1942 he took a train to Bombay and along with about 60 other soldiers set sail for Egypt where he fought against the Germans alongside troops from Australia, New Zealand and India. He also saw service in Palestine, Libya, Syria and Italy. He was in Italy when the war ended.
Just after the war he was posted in Indo-China where he met his brother Joseph who worked in the French Customs Department in Vietnam and had just been released from a Japanese POW camp where he had been held for 18 months.
While he was in Indochina he started corresponding French woman called Yvette Pompadour. He went to France in April 1950 and married Yvette in August of 1950.
After the war, Edgard was posted in Dakar, Senegal and Morocco. He was accompanied by his family.
He was decommissioned in 1955 and visited India where he visited Mahe, Karkal, Ooty, Mysore and Bangalore before going and settling down in France.
In France, Edgard worked in the administration department of the French Nuclear Facilities at Dijon. He also got his elder brother Joseph a similar job at the same facilities and Joseph and his family emigrated from Vietnam lived in Dijon.
Edgard married Yvette POMPADUR.
