2. Ignatius Cajetan PERES (Bonaventure Manuel¹) was born in 1819 and died on Aug 25, 1877 at age 58.

General Notes: Ignatius Cajetan Peres was from the parish of Pezar. The original Peres surname was Bhat - the priestly class in the Konkana community. According to legend, two members of this priestly class were converted to Catholicism by Portuguese missionaries - probably in the 18th century. Their godfathers were the Dukes of Alva and Peres, whose surnames the new converts adopted. Unfortunately neither family have any genealogical information.
