General Notes: Rev. Manuel Vas was ordained at Verapoly in 1845 by the Archbishop Count Ludvica of Martin of Teresa. He was the Vicar of the Church of Santa Cruz at Hospet (Moodbidri), Church of N.S. De Sud at Sirva and of the Church or Urwa. He was an eloquent preacher and taught at the English school in Milagres. He was buried in the new cemetery at Milagres near the grave of Bishop Thomas de Castro.

24. Vakil Pedru VAS (Domingo¹³, João⁴, Jose¹) was born on Jun 1, 1803 and died in 1882 at age 79.

General Notes: He was a tall well-built man with a towering personality and endowed with keen intelligence. At an early age he mastered law in which he passed the necessary public examinations and was enrolled as a Vakil in 1831 in the lower courts and in 1843 in the District Court. He soon became a leading pleader with a lucrative practice at his command. He amassed a huge fortune. He invested a large portion of his savings in coffee planting speculation started by his son Mingel in Wynad which resulted in total failure.
