10. Deputy Collector John Francis FERNANDEZ (Custodius⁴, Francisco¹) was born in 1807 and died on Sep 11, 1883 at age 76.

General Notes: John Francis Fernandez distinguished himself as the Treasury Deputy Collector of Mangalore in 1860 - a rare position in those colonial days. He has the honor of being the first Mangalorean Deputy Controller of Mangalore.

John married Regina ROSARIO, daughter of Paul Valentine ROSARIO and Marie Piedade SOUZA. Regina died about 1834.

John next married Anna Maria LOBO in 1835. Anna was born in Bolar, Mangaluru, Karnataka, India.

Joachim married Regina ROSARIO, daughter of Justice Lazarus Salvador ROSARIO and Rita PACHÉCO, on May 16, 1865 in Rosario Cathedral, Mangalore. Regina was born on Aug 30, 1846 and died on Jun 15, 1915 at age 68.

Marriage Notes: Joachim and Regina were both descendants of the 5 Portuguese Jesuits and 1 Spanish Jesuit who were expelled from Portugal in June 1758 and came to India sometime in 1759.
